Setup

Download VRCRT on Steam here and opt into the beta branch

or

You must use VRCFT v5.1.1, downloadable here.
This is due to a bug in VRCFT v5.2.3 that causes LIV to receive no data.
The bug is already fixed in their code, but there has been no new release since April 10, 2024.

To download/use VRCFT:

  • Download the msix file from the release page.
  • Rename the file from VRCFaceTracking_5.1.1.0_x64.msix to VRCFaceTracking_5.1.1.0_x64.zip
  • Extract all files to a folder.
  • Run VRCFaceTracking.exe in the folder you extracted the files to.
This is necessary as VRCFT's code certificate has expired, preventing normal installation.

See their documentation for further setup steps!

Usage

1. Run both LIV and VRCFaceTracking
2. From LIV's in-VR avatar settings, select VRCFT via OSC in the left-hand menu under Eye Animation & Mouth Animation.
      - If you only have mouth tracking, only select for mouth tracking, and vice-versa.
3. Choose an avatar that supports face tracking.

That's it!

If your tracking hardware & avatar are configured correctly, you should now have working VRCFT face tracking in LIV.

Connection settings are within meta.json, in the shell:Personal\LIV\Settings folder.
This file is created/updated the first time you launch the compositor after updating!
If you haven't changed VRCFT's OSC settings, you don't need to change these.

Avatar Setup
Any avatar format that LIV supports should work!
You just need to ensure the correct blendshapes are present in your avatar's mesh.

The full list of "Unified Expressions" blendshapes are in VRCFT's docs:
- Base Shapes
- Blended Shapes
LIV's VRCFT integration supports blendshapes only.
